5.4 Development Sites

The Websites area separates ordinary production sites from development sites: installs on local or staging hosts that you don't want counting against your license's activation limit. They appear on the Dev tab of the Websites page.

What counts as a development site​

A site is treated as development when its host matches one of the platform's exempt patterns:

  • localhost
  • *.local
  • *.test
  • *.dev
  • *.ddev.site
  • and similar local / development host patterns

When a plugin on one of these hosts activates a license, Tangible Cloud records the site under Dev rather than Sites, and it is slot-exempt. It does not consume one of the grant's activation allowances. This lets you run a license across your local and staging environments without using up the slots you need for production sites.

The Dev tab​

Open Websites and select the Dev tab. Each row shows the same columns as the main Sites list (domain, plugins, licenses, last-seen, and status), and the summary line reports how many development sites are detected.
